REHAB Walk

Beijing : Trekking through Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China.  Enjoy this world renowned historical and cultural city as we visit some of it's palaces and monuments many of them dating back 3,000 years.  Trek among the Ming and Qing Dynasties Palace Museum - better known as the Forbidden city - the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace.  Explore the sights from the later Cultural Revolution including the vast Tiananmen Square and Mao Zedong Mausoleum

The Great Wall : Walk the Great Wall of China - one of the great wonders of the world.  The Wall stretches more than 6,000km from the east coast to the Gobi desert and can actually be seen from Outer Space.  Construction of the Wall began more than 2,000 years ago to keep out marauding armies, although it was more commonly used over the centuries as a road for armies and their equipment.  We will visit the wall at Badaling about two hours from Beijing.

The Yangtze River : The name conjures up the magic and the mystery of the Orient and the reality is equally awe-inspiring.  Discover this mighty river flowing more than 5,000km through the scenic heartlands of China

The Three Gorges : After the Nile and the Amazon, the Yangtze is the third longest river in the world.  The most spectacular scenery is in the Three Gorges, a 160km stretch of the Yangtze between the Baidi City in Sichuan Province in the west and Wuchang in Hubai Province in the east.  The high point of the Rehab Foundation Trek is the opportunity to view this amazing part of the Yangtze before it is lost forever with the completion of the hydro-electric dam in 2007.  The river at this point winds majestically through Qutandm Wuxia and Xiling gorges, created over millions of years and alive with soaring peaks, sculpted cliffs, mysterious caves and cascading foliage.

Shanghai : Finally we complete our trek in Shanghai, China's principle port and major commercial centre.  A fashionable city of cutting edge attitudes.  We will explore this sophisticated city which was originally opened to foreigners under the terms of the Naming Treaty following the First Opium War.
